Can a self rimming kitchen sink be mount under the countertop?
I have a brand new self rimming Kohler Staccato 33 x 22 sink. We are now thinking about going with granite or solid surface. Is there some way we can mount this sink under the countertop? The sink is directly from Kohler, so I can't return or exchange it. Thanks!
No, it can't. The sink edge is substantially different from an undermount. You would end up with a slot which would be impossible to keep clean. You will need a new sink. With Corian, you can have a sink glued in place and the edge routed. This makes the sink appear to be part of the top, and there will be no nooks and crannies to catch food.

First, select the material to use. Obviously, the material will determine limitations on the colors and features you can select. (I haven't seen many purple colored stainless steel kitchens lately).
Once you have your material, now select your color scheme. The most important factor color will have on your kitchen is the mood. Research on line how colors affect a persons mood. Using this information, and your personal preferences, you'll be able to select the right color for your countertops.
Finally, select your features. Think about what is necessary for the functionality of the kitchen, and what are desires. Perhaps you need a large backsplash,, or a cutout for a drain, etc.
Do your homework, and the solid surface countertops you select will be the highlight of your kitchen.
